About Collagenium

An independent, research-driven editorial site that cites every collagen claim to a primary source — and is honest about what we are not.

Our mission

The collagen supplement market is full of exaggerated claims. We read the peer-reviewed literature so readers don't have to, and translate it into plain-English guides — citing every claim to its primary source so readers can verify it themselves.

What we are: an independent editorial team of health writers and researchers. What we are not: a clinic, a dispensary, or licensed medical professionals. Nothing on Collagenium is medical advice. Consult a registered dietitian, physician, or pharmacist before starting any supplement.

What We Stand For

Every claim cited

Every health claim is traceable to a primary source — a peer-reviewed study, the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, FDA/EFSA, or a major clinical institution. See our methodology.

Honest evidence labels

We label claims as "well-supported," "some evidence," "preliminary," or "marketing claim." Where evidence is weak, mixed, or absent, we say so plainly.

Brand-as-publisher, not fake experts

Collagenium is published by a research team, not invented personas. We are not licensed medical professionals and we say so clearly.

Affiliate-disclosed, not affiliate-driven

We earn affiliate commissions, disclosed on every page. Commissions never influence rankings, ratings, or which products appear.

How we create content

Research process

Every article starts with the published literature. We prioritize systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials over animal models, mechanistic studies, and marketing claims. Where evidence is weak or mixed, we say so plainly rather than picking the most flattering study.

Sourcing hierarchy

We rank our acceptable sources from Tier 1 (Cochrane reviews, meta-analyses) to Tier 5 (expert clinical opinion). Manufacturer marketing, influencer content, and non-peer-reviewed preprints are not acceptable sources on Collagenium. The full hierarchy is documented on our methodology page.

Product reviews

Reviews are built from published Supplement Facts panels, Certificates of Analysis when brands publish them, third-party testing (Labdoor, ConsumerLab, NSF), normalized per-serving cost, and ingredient transparency. We do not run clinical trials. Where a brand will not disclose third-party testing, we say so.

Review cadence and corrections

Every article carries both a publication date and a "Last reviewed" date. Articles are re-reviewed at least every 12 months and immediately whenever a reader, brand, or researcher flags an issue. Corrections are made directly in the article with a dated correction notice at the top.

How We Make Money

Collagenium is reader-supported. When you click links on our site and make a purchase, we may earn an affiliate commission. This never affects our editorial independence or product ratings.

We believe in full transparency. Our ratings are based solely on product quality, not commission rates. We've given low scores to products with high commissions and top ratings to products with no affiliate program at all.
